North Haven Island

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take work on North Haven Island?

The short answer is Yes!

How do you travel to North Haven?

We fly with Penobscot Island Air. If the plane is not flying we will reschedule our visit.

Who is responsible for travel costs?

The client will be billed for travel time and travel costs.

Why don’t you take the ferry?

We have a vehicle that stays on island with a number of parts and tools, so we only need to get our men to the island.

Flying to North Haven Island allows it to be within our commuting radius. We would not drive the time it takes to take the ferry to the island.

Waiting in line at the ferry terminal at 6am is not something we want our employees to have to do. They all have home lives and responsibilities. Flying allows them to still have a normal work day. Happy electricians are better electricians.

Would taking the ferry save the client money?

The client’s savings would be minimal.

Additionally, if we took the ferry the client would be paying time for 4 electricians to wait in line and ride the ferry to and from the island. Since the ferry times are dictated, we would be working outside of normal hours. Therefore time and a half overtime would be applicable.

Flying allows the client to pay electricians for actually doing electrical work.

Will you provide an estimate for the work?

Adam can tell a potential client what a project would cost on the mainland. But working on the island has so many variables, that he is unable to provide an estimate.
